Troubleshooting Strava Connection

Having trouble connecting Motra to Strava, or your workouts aren't showing up? This guide covers the most common issues and how to fix them.

How to Connect Strava

  1. Open Motra and go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Connect Strava

  2. Tap Connect with Strava

  3. Motra will open the Strava app (or your browser if the Strava app isn't installed)

  4. Log in to Strava and authorize Motra

  5. You'll see a "Strava Connected" confirmation and your Strava username

Once connected, your Motra workouts — including calories, exercises, and muscle groups — will automatically sync to Strava.

"Invalid Redirect URI" Error

This is the most common Strava connection issue. If you see this error when trying to connect:

  1. Log out of Strava on your phone's browser (Safari or Chrome)

  2. Clear your browser cache — go to iPhone Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data

  3. Go back to Motra and try Connect with Strava again

  4. When prompted, log in to Strava fresh

If it still doesn't work, try connecting with the Strava app installed — Motra will use the Strava app directly instead of the browser, which avoids the redirect issue entirely.

Workouts Not Syncing to Strava

If you're connected but workouts aren't appearing on Strava:

  1. Check your connection status — go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Connect Strava and confirm you see your Strava username with a green checkmark

  2. Check your internet connection — syncing requires an active connection at the time you finish a workout

  3. Manually resync a workout — open the workout, tap the menu (three dots), and select Resync to Strava

If manual resync shows "No internet connection" or "Unknown error", check your Wi-Fi or cellular data and try again.

Can't Disconnect Strava

If tapping Disconnect Strava shows an error:

  1. Make sure you have an active internet connection

  2. Try again — the disconnect requires a network request to Strava's servers

  3. If it keeps failing, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off, then retry

Note: Disconnecting Motra from Strava does not delete workouts already synced to Strava. It only stops future workouts from syncing.

Reconnecting After Disconnect

If you disconnected and want to reconnect:

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Connect Strava

  2. Tap Connect with Strava and go through the authorization again

  3. You can connect to the same Strava account or a different one

Motra does not cache your Strava credentials, so you'll need to log in to Strava again during reconnection.

What Data Syncs to Strava?

When connected, Motra shares the following with Strava:

  • Workout activities (exercises, sets, reps)

  • Calories burned

  • Muscle groups targeted

  • Heart rate data (if recorded)

  • Workout duration

By connecting, you agree to share this data with Strava as noted on the connection screen.
